The chamber, led by the president of the TSJC, Jesús María Barrientos, concludes that the postponement of the trial, which would take place between April 10 and May 29, represents a “legitimate goal” as it avoids “all interference.” or “benefit” from it during the election campaign and without prejudice to the procedural rights of the parties.

In its resolution, the Catalan Supreme Court instructs the lawyer for the administration of justice to reschedule the hearings, starting on a date yet to be determined, but which, since the original calendar has been postponed, could coincide with the final approval of the case. amnesty lawscheduled for the end of May.

On the contrary, the court, in accordance with the criteria of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, refuses to suspend the trial due to the processing of the amnesty law in the Cortes.

The defense requested a suspension of the trial due to the “imminent” passage of the amnesty law, although both the Public Prosecution Service and the Public Prosecution Service opposed this, although neither party rejected the proposal that the TSJC sent them to postpone the hearing set. to avoid it coinciding with the election campaign.

In a statement, ERC welcomes the decision of the Supreme Court of Catalonia (TSJC), but regrets that for the court presided over by Judge Jesús María Barrientos “it was not sufficient reason for the suspension of the trial, nor for its coincidence with the plenary meeting. sessions of Parliament, nor the next entry into force of the amnesty law”.

The Public Prosecution Service demands seven years’ imprisonment against Jové and six years and three months against Salvadó, by applying the aggravated form of embezzlement in addition to fraud and disobedience for organizing the 1-O, while it asks for a year’s disqualification for Garriga due to an crime of serious disobedience.
