A 53-year-old and a 71-year-old got behind the wheel drunk in Regau and Eferding on Friday. The farmer and the pensioner were apparently so drunk by the afternoon that they caused accidents with their vehicles. In any case, while the farmer then stopped driving, the older woman committed a collision.
The 53-year-old farmer from Regau was driving his tractor and trailer on Schörflinger Strasse in his home community on Friday afternoon. In the city of Himmelreich he lost control of his team and slipped on the shoulder. The result was that the trailer overturned.
Continuing the journey was no longer possible. The alcohol test carried out as part of the accident investigation surprised the police: the farmer was extremely drunk and had a blood alcohol level of 2.92. The man’s driver’s license was confiscated.
Senior woman was transporting four year old granddaughter
A very drunk 71-year-old from Eferding was also taken out of circulation on Friday afternoon. The woman damaged a road sign while reversing into a one-way street in her hometown. She got out and inspected the damage, but then got back in the car and fled the scene.
However, witnesses observed the incident. They alerted the police and provided the driver’s license plate number. The woman was arrested shortly afterwards in Eferding. An alcohol test showed that she had a blood alcohol level of 1.32. What was especially disgusting about the incident was that the drunk had also been carrying her four-year-old granddaughter in the car.
The lady had to hand in her car keys and driver’s license on the spot and was reported. The penalties will likely be severe.
