4. Accomplice on the run – woman beaten and gagged: three arrests

A jewelry store owner was knocked down, gagged and tied up in a brutal robbery in Seitenstetten in the Amstetten district of Lower Austria last year. Three suspects have already been arrested and another suspect is still on the run.

Almost exactly a year ago, four masked perpetrators attacked a jewelry store in Seitenstetten in the Amstetten district. The 46-year-old owner was brutally beaten and then dragged to an adjacent workshop. The quartet tied up the defenseless victim with handcuffs and gagged him with construction tape. The perpetrators wrapped it several times around the woman’s entire head and face, leaving her unable to see and barely able to breathe. In addition, the perpetrators tore a fabric curtain in the branch of an anchor to tie the 46-year-old back up.

Threatened with murder
The strangers demanded that valuables be handed over in English and threatened several times to kill the frightened woman. According to police reports, the victim, who was gagged and tied on the ground, was continuously abused with kicks and punches.

Bruises, hematomas, scratches and abrasions
The perpetrators stole jewelry and numerous watches from the store and fled. They left the 46-year-old injured. Later, a customer who happened to pass by discovered the store owner suffering from bruises, bruises and scrapes/scrapes. The shocked woman was treated at Steyr State Hospital. The victim is still suffering the consequences of the brutal attack to this day. The woman receives appropriate psychotherapeutic treatment.

Four suspects investigated
During painstaking investigations, four Romanian nationals aged 26, 27, 31 and 35 were identified as urgent suspects and national arrest warrants or European arrest warrants were obtained against them from the St. Pölten Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to police information, the suspect quartet belongs to an internationally active perpetrator group from Turda (Romania) and has already been convicted at home and abroad for violent, property, fraud and drug offenses.

Two suspects (27, 31) were already being held in St. Pölten prison for other criminal offences. They confessed to the suspicion of a serious robbery at the jeweler in Seitenstetten. The third suspect (35) was arrested in Italy in February. He was extradited to Austria on March 27 and refused to provide any information when questioned by the State Criminal Investigation Team. The Romanian was taken to St. Pölten prison.

Another suspect on the run
So far, another suspect, a 26-year-old Romanian national, is on the run. He is still wanted.

The clothing worn by the perpetrators during the jewelry store robbery, as well as other paraphernalia used, such as binding and gagging equipment and a travel bag to transport the loot, were found and seized in a forest in the Czech Republic.
