As reported, the late Pentecost date suits many people who are hungry for a holiday. Friday afternoon quite a few left for the Adriatic Sea. This was noticeable on the transit routes in Austria. There were traffic jams for construction sites and there were also accidents …
The ÖAMTC reported that travelers on the A10 (Tauernautobahn) had to wait a long time. After an accident between Puch and Hallein, there was a long traffic jam that stretched back to the A1 (Westautobahn) in the city of Salzburg and the German A8 to Neukirchen.
kilometers of traffic jam
An accident also caused traffic jams in Lower Austria: the club registered about eight kilometers of traffic jams between Ybbs and Pöchlarn. It went slowly on the A8 (Innkreisautobahn) between Suben and Ort. This also led to delays in access from the B148 (Altheimer Straße).
The A9 (Pyhrnautobahn) in Upper Austria and in Styria to the south was also overloaded by travel. The ÖAMTC registered traffic jams for the construction sites St. Pankraz and Windischgarsten, Treglwang – Kalwang, junction Übelbach – Deitschfeistritz-Peggau, as well as between Plabutsch tunnel and Wundschuh. At the Graz-West interchange on the A2, westbound traffic came to a temporary halt. In the west, motorists had to be patient when entering Tyrol on the A12 (Inntal Autobahn) and on the Fernpass route (B179).
