At the wheel of the Mobilize Limo, the first subscription car for taxi drivers and VTC

Date:

The 100% electric model debuts in Madrid under the ‘all-inclusive’ model

With the new Mobilize brand, Renault is taking a step forward and becoming a mobility provider that goes beyond just selling cars. The new brand will have its own fleet. The first of these is the Mobilize Limo, a 100% electric five-door sedan, intended for taxi drivers and VTC fleets, which will have the city of Madrod as its first destination. It operates through the subscription system, with an initial fleet of 40 vehicles for the Cabify service. The offering will be in Paris this fall before rolling out to other European cities in the coming months.

Before their official premiere, we have already been able to test these vehicles during their international presentation in Madrid. With a first conclusion: it is a car that could perfectly be available to the general public, because its characteristics and advantages would make it perfectly suited to the needs of private drivers.

But not. The Limo will not be for sale and, moreover, will only be available to professional taxi drivers and VTC fleets. Its autonomy of 450 kilometers WLTP is enough to cover the average daily mileage of 250 to 300 kilometers in a working day. Thanks to its 100% electric motorization with no polluting emissions in use, it is not subject to any restrictions on access to city centers.

The car moves thanks to a 100% electric motor of 118 kW, i.e. 160 hp which provides a torque of 225 Nm. It has three driving modes, Sport. Eco and Normal, and three levels of retention to restore the battery under braking.

AC loads (at 7.4 and 11 kW) and DC in series allow recovery times compatible with the activity of the conductors:

• 250 km recovered in 40 minutes on a fast DC charge, the time it takes to pause

• 100% charge in 10-12 hours on 7kW AC fast charge via built-in charger, overnight

• 100% charge in 7-8 hours on 11kW AC fast charge via built-in charger

With a total weight of only 1,610 kg and the use of a heat pump for thermal comfort in the cabin, they contribute to the good energy performance of the Limo.

The 160 horsepower will move a vehicle with ease, even on freeway and highway sections, although these won’t be their most common “areas”.

Inside, the first impression is good, with a very correct finish, a clean and pleasant design and with comfortable seats. The rear seats have a radius of 288 millimeters around the knees and passengers can operate the radio and audio system. The driver has two large screens of 10.2 and 12.3 inches, with a multimedia system compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. It is also a connected vehicle, facilitating control and monitoring for fleet management. The suitcase has a capacity of 500 liters for the luggage of travelers.

From an aesthetic point of view, the TEP cover (artificial leather) is pleasant to the touch, resistant and easy to clean. Gray aluminum and carbon fiber applications and LED mood lighting give the interior an elegant appearance. Mobilize Limo has a warranty of 6 years or 300,000 km (whichever comes first).

The first units will arrive to join the Cabify fleet, but once the homologation procedures are approved by the Madrid and Barcelona councils, the car will also be available to taxi professionals through the subscription system. They have not provided the rates of the brand, as they depend on the duration of the contract and the number of kilometers contracted.

The “all-inclusive” subscription offers flexibility in terms of duration and cost control: the guaranteed vehicle during the contract, comprehensive insurance, including roadside assistance, maintenance, wear parts (including tires) and a charging card.

Mobilize Driver Solutions offers a high-end service for professionals, so that every procedure or need is managed by one interlocutor. Maintenance work is accessible with a scheduled appointment in less than 48 hours in specific workshops where attention is a priority. A pre-diagnosis of the vehicle is established in 30 minutes. Everything is designed to provide visibility and minimize vehicle immobilization.

For VTC and taxi drivers, the offer consists of subscriptions with a duration of 3 months to 3 years with a kilometer option. The online subscription takes no more than a few minutes.

For fleet managers, the offer is built around a long-term lease (LLD) of Mobilize Financial Services with a term of up to 6 years or 300,000 kilometers.

Mobilize Driver Solutions’ services include:

– Car financing with monthly subscription without advance payment

– Fast delivery of the vehicle (optional home delivery)

– The «Mobilize Business Pass» card and the Mobilize Power Solutions application allowing to pay for the charging of more than 250,000 electrical terminals throughout Europe

– A warranty from the vehicle manufacturer for the entire duration of the contract

– Free maintenance including labor and parts, including wearing parts such as tires

– Priority access to reference workshops

– 24/7 roadside assistance

– All risk insurance for passenger transport and damage including repair and towing on site

Subscribing to the offer is done in a few minutes via the web. The driver must present the documents justifying his professional activity of transporting people and his income in order to complete the acceptance of his contract. No administrative procedure is required and the handling of each application is simple and fluid.

The delivery of the vehicle takes place in just a few weeks thanks to a Mobilize Limo stock consisting of new and reconditioned vehicles (vehicles that have already been used but have been fully serviced). Home delivery of the vehicle is optional.
