The Israeli Prime Minister’s office has explained that the operation will be performed under general anesthesia on Sunday evening. In his absence, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Yariv Levin will carry out his duties.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will undergo surgery this Sunday to repair a hernia, which was discovered during a routine check-up on Saturday.

In a statement, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office explained that the operation will be performed under general anesthesia on Sunday evening.

In his absence, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Yariv Levin will carry out his duties.

The 74-year-old Israeli prime minister had to undergo surgery last July to have a pacemaker implanted after fainting.

Netanyahu faces a complicated political situation at the time, which is now exacerbated by the offensive in Gaza and renewed tensions on the border with Lebanon.
