A resident is said to have extinguished the rubbish bin and refrigerator fire in her apartment in Ried im Innkreis (Upper Austria) herself early on Friday morning, but suffered smoke poisoning – the rescue team took her to hospital. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
Around 7 a.m. Friday, a caller reported: Smoke coming from a city center apartment on the second floor! The operations manager of the Ried im Innkreis fire brigade was actually able to detect a fire and raise the alarm level.
The trash can and refrigerator were on fire
A Florianis respiratory protection team went to the affected apartment and found a fire in a garbage can and a refrigerator that had already failed, according to the incident report. The resident probably extinguished the fire himself and thus prevented something worse, but suffered smoke poisoning. The rescue effort took the woman to the hospital.
The fire brigade checked the affected area with thermal imaging cameras and the ventilated apartment and stairwell. The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified.
