New details in the investigation into the bomb found on Friday, March 29, near a Jehovah’s Witnesses building in Kalsdorf, Styria: The crime is linked to two explosives attached to two cars in August 2023 in Leibnitz.
On Good Friday and Saturday there were anxious hours that the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kalsdorf near Graz had to experience: A suspicious package was left at the entrance to the Kingdom Hall. A major alert was declared, the area was cordoned off and about 50 residents were evacuated. After the first assessments it could not be ruled out that it was a bomb.
The package was taken away with heavy equipment and on Saturday afternoon the bomb squad received the message: it was actually a live bomb.
The incident was preceded by two blasts of explosives on cars in Leibnitz in August 2023. They also targeted Jehovah’s Witnesses, but fortunately no one was injured.
Concrete tracks
Investigations are in full swing in both cases. Now it has emerged what observers suspected: the bombs were made in a similar way. How exactly does not want to be published for tactical reasons.
Job interviews are already underway. The researchers are now also looking for concrete clues.
