An 18-year-old from Bad Hall was sitting with his 17-year-old friend from Pfarrkirchen near Bad Hall on his quad bike on the municipal road Grübler in the municipality of Schenkenfelden, coming from Reichenau towards the center of Schenkenfelden. For reasons that are still unclear, they drove their quad bike on a straight stretch of road in the area of Schild off the road and collided with several trees in an adjacent forest.

Both were seriously injured and, after receiving emergency medical treatment, were taken by the Christophorus 10 rescue helicopter or by ambulance to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz or to the Freistadt Clinic.
