Pro-Palestinian youth supporters linked to Just Stop Oil defaced the Labor Party headquarters in London with red paint. They accuse Labor of being “complicit” in the “genocide” in Gaza because they refuse to campaign for an end to arms sales to Israel.
On Monday, anti-war activists spray-painted the Labor Party headquarters. Supporters of the organization ‘Youth Demand’, which describes itself as a ‘youth resistance campaign fighting to end genocide’, are calling for an arms embargo.
They underlined this appeal with the generous use of (blood) red paint. Using a type of spray cannon, the protesters first sprayed the facade of the building before entering the interior and vandalizing the lobby.
The activists accuse the party of having “blood on its hands”, being “cowardly” and “complicit” in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians in the Gaza Strip. They are also calling for an end to fossil fuel drilling in Britain.
The group later said that 11 activists were arrested following the action. Police said they had arrested twelve people. The group vowed to continue its “week of action” and nonviolent resistance.
“As long as the government threatens to continue the genocide, coordinated civil resistance is our only option. Radical change must come from young people,” said one protester, an Oxford student, explaining his participation in the action, according to the Daily Mail.
