There is a threat of war in South America: without regard to national borders, international agreements and international warnings, Venezuela plans to annex large parts of its small but resource-rich neighbor Guyana. What is behind President Nicolás Maduro’s megalomaniacal and dangerous plans? Krone+ clarifies.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has a plan. The newly created state of Essequibo covers approximately 160,000 square kilometers, the provisional capital is called Tumeremo, the governor of the state is General Rodríguez Cabello, the new state borders the Atlantic Ocean to the north and Brazil to the south. The only problem? Essequibo is located in neighboring Guyana and is therefore not part of the territory of Venezuela.
