Austria can be proud of its educational institutions. This year, six local universities reached the top 50 in one of the 55 subjects in the current “QS World University Rankings by Subject”.
The Vienna University of Music ranked fourth best in the field of performing arts. The University of Vienna achieved the most top 50 placements with eight entries; She was the best in communication sciences with a tenth place.
For the QS Quacquarelli Symonds subject rankings, scientists and employers were asked about the reputation and employability of graduates in the relevant subjects. Vienna Music University delivers the best individual results
As in previous years, the best individual result of an Austrian university was achieved by the Vienna University of Music: as in 2023, it took fourth place in the performing arts. The Mozarteum in Salzburg, on the other hand, lost 21 places and now ranks 33rd in this category.
Top Media and Communication Sciences at the University of Vienna
The University of Vienna achieved the best ranking in media and communication sciences (10). There were also top 50 ranks in theology (21), history (33), archeology (35), classical studies (40), anthropology (43), linguistics (46) and philosophy (49). The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (Boku) Vienna ranked 26th in agriculture and forestry, and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna ranked 28th in veterinary medicine.
The Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) dropped out of the rankings
The Central European University (CEU), recently established in Vienna, is also a private university that has twice entered the top 50. She ranked 32nd in political science and 37th in philosophy.
