Horrible scenes may have occurred on Wednesday evening in a residential building in Navis (Innsbruck-Land district). A 49-year-old initially attacked his wife (48) after an argument. When she called the police, he threatened to kill himself.
The dramatic operation was probably caused by an argument shortly after 11 p.m. between the man (49) and his wife (48) at the home in Navis. The man allegedly threatened the woman and seriously injured her by attacking her neck. The 49-year-old managed to escape and called the police.
Police found suspect
Several police patrols, the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG), the EKO-Cobra and officers from the negotiation group found the suspect on the roof terrace a short time later. He threatened to kill himself.
Around 12.40 pm the officers used a Taser – a so-called electric impulse weapon – but apparently too late. “The seriously injured man was first treated on site and then taken to the Innsbruck clinic with life-threatening injuries,” police said.
Woman also in hospital, investigation ongoing
The man’s partner was also taken to the district hospital in Hall with significant injuries and admitted to hospital. Further investigations are being conducted by the Tyrolean State Criminal Investigation Department and the Investigation and Complaints Office into allegations of mistreatment of the Federal Office for Corruption Prevention and Combating Corruption (BAK), which is responsible for the use of coercive force. The police did not want to provide information about the man’s origins for “data protection reasons”.
