On Sunday night, a devastating fire broke out on the site of the former Hammerbrotwerke in Schwechat (Lower Austria). Now the cause is clear: someone started the fire.
On Sunday evening, several fire brigades fought the flames for hours at the former bread factory in Schwechat in the Bruck an der Leitha district, the “Krone” reports. The last fire on the site was in March 2023. This time the immediately adjacent, vacant building caught fire.
Arson suspected
The cause of the fire has now been determined: according to the police, the fire was caused by an “external ignition source” – in short, probably arson. The investigation into the case is in full swing.
