A cable car cabin crashed in the southern Turkish city of Antalya (see video above). One person was killed and ten others were injured. According to the Minister of Health, a total of almost 200 people were temporarily detained.
According to the state news agency Anadolu, the cable car was particularly busy because of Eid-al-Fitr at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. One of the cable car’s masts fell, a cabin hit it and fell into rocky terrain. In the photos you see the cabin without a floor. Fire brigade, police and rescue services were present.
One person was killed and ten people were injured in the accident. Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on the X platform late Friday evening that they were in a hospital but were not seriously injured. 184 people were temporarily detained.

Basket tied to huts
To free them, a basket was lifted from a helicopter and taken to the huts. The cause of the accident was initially not disclosed.
According to the operator, the cable car has been in operation since 2017 and consists of 36 cabins. It transports its guests to the top of Tünektepe at an altitude of 605 meters. The journey takes about nine minutes and there is room for six people per cabin. Antalya is a popular destination among tourists.
