47 years after the murder of a postal worker in Knittelfeld, Styria, the then defendant broke his silence out of desperation.
It was a massacre that stretched from the entrance of an apartment building on the Knittelfelder Schulgasse to the basement on December 2, 1975. At least one perpetrator targeted the city’s popular cash postman, hitting him several times on the head and robbing him of 80,000 shillings. The terrible story is well known. However, the perpetrator has not yet been caught. At that time, however, a 17-year-old high school student was targeted by police. Walter Nickl, the now 66-year-old’s name, stood before a jury a year later.
