The group Last Generation interrupted Andreas Gabalier’s open-air concert in Ischgl on Sunday. Three people climbed onto the stage and threw confetti around. The protest was not directed against the artist himself, but was emphasized in a broadcast.
Instead, it’s about the “escalating climate catastrophe.” “We simply have no more time to waste and must take every opportunity to draw attention to the impending climate collapse. The government must finally take action and include the fundamental right to climate protection in our constitution,” says Jonas Iwen (21) in a broadcast of Last Generation.
Here you can see the video of the last generation.
The group posted a video of the action on X. It shows three people taking the stage on the Ischler Idalp and throwing bright confetti around them. Then they unpack banners. There is no more time as security forces immediately intervene and carry the activists off the stage. At least some of the audience might agree with this response. They applaud, a woman flips the climate activists the bird.
“Don’t target us at fans”
“Our protest is not directed against Andreas Gabalier, his music or the fans,” the Last Generation explains in the broadcast on Sunday. “Age, place of residence, educational background, gender – the people at the Climate Council were as diverse as today’s concertgoers and yet they managed to develop and decide on climate protection measures – mostly unanimously (…),” says physiotherapist Resa Stelzer (28 ) cited. If the government had not wanted to listen to the Climate Council, it would not have had to convene it at all.
