A barrel of Brent oil falls below $90, despite tensions in the Middle East

So far this year, the cost of a barrel of Brent oil has risen 16%.

The price of a barrel of Brent, the reference oil for Europe, fell this Monday to just under 90 dollars, despite tensions in the Middle East following Iran’s attack on Israel in retaliation for the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria , in April. 1.

Specifically, the price of a barrel of Brent crude oil before the opening of the Old Continent’s stock markets was $89.76, up from $90.45 at the previous close, and a far cry from the more than $92 it was trading on Friday.

Similarly, the price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil, the benchmark for the United States, remained steady at $85.20, compared to $85.66 at the previous close.

So far this year, the cost of a barrel of Brent oil has risen 16% and that of WTI crude oil has risen almost 19%.
