A terrible accident took place not far from the Austrian border on Sunday. In the Swiss Engadine, a ski tourer fell 700 meters during a break in front of a colleague. All help came too late for the man.
According to the Graubünden cantonal police, a 47-year-old ski tourer was climbing the 3,295 meter high Muttler from the municipality of Tschlin, accompanied by a colleague. Around 9:45 a.m. the duo decided to take a break below the summit.
Companion had to receive psychological care
The ski tourer fell about 700 meters along the eastern flank for reasons that are still unclear. The Rega air rescue service could then only save him dead. The second man who witnessed the crash received psychological care. The cantonal police of Graubünden have started an investigation.
