Major fire brigade operation Monday evening in Lower Austria! A caravan may have caught fire in the garage of Klosterneuburg Abbey. 152 emergency services and 33 vehicles were on site.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., the fire brigade was alerted to a fire in the Klosterneuburg abbey in the Tulln district. Thick, black smoke came from the underground parking garage of the Canons Monastery. There were ten fire brigades employing 152 women and men.
Vehicle completely burned out
The heavy smoke greatly complicated the operation; Due to the smoke, the emergency services were unable to immediately find the source of the fire. When they discovered the burning caravan, the fire was quickly extinguished. The vehicle completely burned out. The spacious building was made smoke-free with the help of pressure fans from the Vienna Fire Department.
No damage to the pen
Several cars around the caravan, which is believed to have caused the fire, were seriously damaged by the hot smoke. The Klosterneuburg Abbey itself was not damaged.
Five people, including three firefighters and two police officers, were taken to hospital by the Klosterneuburg Red Cross on suspicion of smoke inhalation.
