Extreme speed offenders in Austria have been threatened with losing their cars since March 1. In March alone, 21 vehicles were seized. In addition to Lower Austria, Tyrol is one of the states with a particularly high number of acceptances. Excessive speed is the most common reason for serious accidents with fatalities. To stop extreme speed offenders, a change in traffic rules has been in force in Austria since March 1. This allows authorities to seize speeding cars and sell them if necessary. Five vehicles have already been temporarily seized by the police in Tyrol – a record number in Austria.
