The Bilbao City Council assures that it will terminate the contract with the concessionaire within three months, and has requested that the strike be lifted indefinitely. The workers’ representatives rejected this possibility.
The chairman of the Bilbobus works council, Jose Fernandezhas admitted that “significant progress during the meeting with concessionaire Biobide, although he assured that “unfortunately the agreement could not be concluded“.
The Bilbao City Council has informed the Bilbobus Committee that they will resolve the contract with the service concession company within a maximum period of approximately three monthsand has asked him to call off the indefinite strike they are maintaining, which is a possibility turned down by employee representatives.
The technical meeting took place this Monday at the request of the City Council itself, with the participation of the commission and the Bilbao City Council, and discussed a labor dispute that has been going on for months.
In this sense, Fernández explained that this Wednesday another meeting was held with the Biobide companyin which, as reported, “some significant progress” has been made.
As he said, The meeting focused on the economic part and while he has emphasized that it is “more or less” close, he has suggested that “there is still a long way to go.” In this sense, he reiterated that “significant progress” has been made, but that “a definitive solution” to the problem has not been possible.
However, he added that the concessionaire company and the employee they will resume the meeting held this Wednesday when they see fit, but it is not yet known when that meeting will take place.
Regarding the workers’ strike, which has become indefinite since April 9, the chairman of the works council has stated that the strike will continue until “the conflict is resolved.”
