“Provocative steps” – Erdogan: Netanyahu responsible for tensions

Date:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for tensions in the Middle East. He even compared him to Hitler and said he was responsible for the deaths of thousands of children.

Erdogan had already compared the Israeli head of government to Adolf Hitler in the past. Netanyahu is endangering his own countrymen and the people of the entire region to ensure his political survival. Israel’s alleged attack on the grounds of the Iranian embassy was the last straw.

The Turkish president also accused the West of double standards. Only a few countries condemned the attack on the Iranian embassy complex, but the attack by Iranian forces on Israel immediately caused international outrage.

The Iranian army attacked Israel on Sunday evening with more than 300 drones and missiles, but almost all of them were intercepted. It is still unclear how the Israeli government will respond to this. According to the Iranian version, it was a reprisal attack for the deaths of two generals of the influential Revolutionary Guard.

Relations with Israel deteriorated
Since the start of the war in Gaza, relations between the Israeli and Turkish governments have deteriorated dramatically. Erdogan has repeatedly accused Netanyahu of committing a “massacre.”

Erdogan will receive Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh next weekend. According to him, the Palestinian organization is not a terrorist organization – as classified by the EU and the US – but a liberation movement. It was initially not known exactly when the meeting would take place.
