The latest research from Eurobarometer of the European Parliament ahead of the June 9 elections, published this Wednesday, reveals that a 71% of European Union citizens say they would be likely to vote in the European elections if the election event took place next week, a An increase of 10 points regarding the 2019 survey data.
In the case of Spain the 58% of respondents are interested in the European elections, and 70% say they are likely to exercise their right to vote (14 points more than five years ago). Furthermore, 80% agree that voting is even more important given the current geopolitical context.
“We know that actual participation is lower than the number of people who say they would vote if elections were held tomorrow. We have sufficient reason to expect higher participation in this election than in the previous one,” the general said. Among the citizens surveyed was a positive image of the European Union, with 47% of Europeans seeing it this way, compared to 36% who have a neutral view of the European project and 17% who have a negative view.
