36 million damages – “Alt-Vienna” case: children knew nothing about fraud

Date:

The first statements have been made in the fraud trial against the former operator (81) of the “Alt-Wien” kindergartens and his family. Or rather, acquitted: the four adult children knew nothing about the millions they had diverted and spent.

The explosive fraud trial surrounding the ‘Alt-Vienna’ kindergartens has been going on for six months. The focus is on the now 81-year-old former founder and manager of the club. However, he shares the dock of the Vienna Regional Court with his four adult children. Because they too were allegedly involved in the alleged multi-million fraud.

Cars, riding school and massage chair financed
The elderly first defendant allegedly pretended to run a non-profit organization for seven years from 2009 to receive full funding for the kindergartens. He illegally received 36 million euros in taxpayer money, 16 of which for improper purposes. According to the WKStA, this no longer has anything to do with the non-profit status. She accuses the 81-year-old of serious fraud, infidelity and fraudulent crimes.

The four adult children are said to have built a beautiful life for themselves with the millions: various properties, luxury cars, a riding school, fur coats, a massage chair and much more were financed. The charge concerns money laundering. Lawyer Lukas Kollmann answers: “For money laundering you should know that the money comes from a crime. And they didn’t know that.”

The Senate of Aldermen in Vienna agrees: non-legal acquittals for the second generation of the toddler clan. The WKStA is not making any statements for the time being. Lawyer Lukas Kollmann told the “Krone”: “My clients are very relieved that they have finally completed this years-long process.” However, the first accused father – he has pleaded not guilty – is still being tried.
