French actor Alain Delon receives the Order of Merit of Ukraine. The country’s embassy in Paris said he had “spoken a lot in favor of Ukraine since the first day of the war.”
“For us he is a symbol, that is important.” The actor expressed his unconditional support, took part in a conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky around 2022 and read texts by the Ukrainian national poet Tara Shevchenko on television.
The Ukrainian ambassador to France, Vadym Omelchenko, addressed the French film star directly on television. “Mr. Delon, dear Alain, I know you are in a difficult situation and I want to tell you that you are not alone. You have many admirers and people who love you. I and my people will always be by your side.”
Multiple strokes
The 88-year-old actor is seriously ill after several strokes. His three children have been embroiled in a heated argument for months about where and how their father should be treated. Recently, legal support for Delon, who was previously primarily responsible for medical decisions, was also extended to his financial affairs.
