The knife attack on a school in Alsace, France, has had dramatic consequences: a girl who suffered cardiac arrest while security forces were deployed to her locked school in Souffelweyersheim near Strasbourg has died.
The child had been taken to hospital a day earlier in serious condition. It is not yet known whether the girl previously suffered from heart problems.
Man injured two children in front of school
On Thursday, a man injured an eleven-year-old primary school student in front of a school with a knife in the neck. He also attacked a seven-year-old girl in a nearby square. Both students were slightly injured.
Emergency services have arrested a suspect. According to the public prosecutor’s initial findings, the man in his thirties is said to be mentally unstable. The perpetrator’s motive is still unknown. According to the Public Prosecution Service, there are no indications of a terrorist background.
