Car crashed into truck – two seriously injured after accident on country road

Two people were seriously injured in a traffic accident in the Baden district (Lower Austria) on Tuesday morning. For unknown reasons, a car crashed into a semi-trailer.

Shortly after 8am a serious road accident occurred on the wet road on the L157 between Tattendorf and Pottendorf. A motorist from the Baden district drove towards Pottendorf, a Hungarian semi-trailer drove from the opposite direction. The two vehicles collided for unknown reasons before the Piesting Bridge on the outskirts of Tattendorf.

The car, which was carrying two women, crashed into the side of the truck between the tractor-trailer and the tractor-trailer. The vehicle was thrown into the guardrail upon impact and came to rest in the opposite lane.

Two seriously injured in hospital
Florianis from the Tattendorf, Pottendorf and Oberwaltersdorf fire brigades rushed to the scene of the accident, and the rescue helicopter Christophorus 3 and several ambulances also came into action. The occupants were removed from the car by emergency services and rescued. The seriously injured driver was flown to the hospital in Eisenstadt by rescue helicopter. The Samaritan Association transported the passenger, who was also seriously injured, to the hospital in Baden. The truck driver was not injured.

The exact cause of the accident is still being determined. The car had to be rescued by the Tattendorf fire brigade using a crane. The L157 was closed for almost two hours.
