A Romanian small truck and semi-trailer was removed from traffic during priority checks in Lower Austria due to imminent danger. The driver had cigarettes and young animals in his luggage.
During priority checks, employees stopped a Romanian motor vehicle train consisting of a small truck and a light trailer. The police discovered technical defects that were immediately dangerous. Further travel was eventually banned. The employees also discovered 43 packs of cigarettes in the engine compartment.
That wasn’t all. Three young cats and a puppy were also hidden among the luggage. The animals are said to come from Ukraine. According to a police statement, the documents brought along and the required vaccinations did not meet the requirements. The four-legged friends were removed on the orders of the official veterinarian and initially placed in the St. Pölten animal shelter.
122 vehicles defective
The Romanian small truck was spotted during a special operation carried out at the A1 stop in St. Pölten and at a company parking lot in Loosdorf in the Melk district. 122 vehicles were checked. A total of 264 serious technical defects were found in 78 vehicles. In 36 cases there was immediate danger.
