Lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger denounces the fact that Haus am Ring has been fully aware of the allegations against his client Florian Teichtmeister since 2021, but is now demanding compensation: “Those responsible had blinders on.”
The Burgtheater has calculated: 19,100 euros for a lawyer, 12,500 euros for labor law experts, 11,800 euros for crisis communication, 20,000 euros for the canceled performance ‘Nebenan’, 10,000 euros because a sponsor withdrew. And so on…
In total, Haus am Ring is demanding 94,493 euros in damages from Florian Teichtmeister, who was sentenced to two years in prison in September 2023 for possession and production of child pornography files.
Conversation with Teichtmeister about accusations as early as 2021
“As soon as we learned that the actor mentioned in the articles was Florian Teichtmeister, we called him for an interview,” the Burgtheater writes in its statement of January 13, 2023. The above interview took place in the autumn of 2021. The actor claims to have been deceived are: “Florian Teichtmeister vehemently and credibly denied the allegations at the time,” it said.
“The Burgtheater was fully aware of the allegations in 2021. As an employer, it should have pulled the string, but that was neglected,” argues lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger.
1,500 hate posts on Burgtheater channels
During the hearing at the labor and social court, the Chamber did not provide a good picture of the internal communication processes. A lawyer for the legal department said he didn’t hear about the case until 2023. The representatives of the Burgtheater in the ASG do not admit any shortcomings, they are at best “naive”.
The wounds of the slander against the traditional house run deep when Teichtmeister was accused: “1,500 extremely emotionally stressful messages ended up on our channels. “We were accused of terrible things, including threatening calls and hostility,” senior staff said as witnesses. However, the hate posters were not brought to justice.
You only want money from one person: Florian Teichtmeister. But if his information is correct, there is nothing to be gained. The ex-Burg actor reveals to the judge that his father, who had previously supported him, died two weeks ago. He currently lives on unemployment benefits.
