According to a report, the Kremlin has been working on an article that paints a bleak picture of Germany. The AfD’s positions are said to be similar to those formulated therein, the Spiegel reported on Friday. “The same is not the same,” the party said simply.
According to the report, in September 2022, a Kremlin department head was tasked with “developing a new concept for the Alternative for Germany party.” The goal is to increase the number of polls and win a majority in elections at all levels. An unnamed Western secret service is mentioned as the source.
“Uneducated politicians”
The newspaper talks about deindustrialization and an exodus of large companies from Germany. It is said that the German economy is already dying. “Uneducated politicians, unable to foresee the consequences of their decisions, have drawn Germany into a conflict with Russia, a natural ally of our country and our people,” the report continued.
The traffic light government would be described as a ‘government of failures’ that undid the efforts of great predecessors such as Willy Brandt and Helmut Kohl. A German politician must not have values, ideals and obligations “that take precedence over the interests of Germany and obligations to the German people.”
Party calls for ‘interest-driven politics’
The content of what was formulated actually corresponds to what the AfD is asking for, for example a policy based on interests instead of values. The party also accuses traffic light politicians of incompetence and repeatedly speaks of deindustrialization.
When asked, the Alternative for Germany indicated that it was not aware of the alleged paper. AfD leader Tino Chrupalla described the report as a “robber’s gun.” “The same is not the same,” Thuringia AfD leader Björn Höcke said of the similarities.
Loses approval
According to the ZDF’s political barometer, the AfD is currently losing support. If there were European elections next Sunday, 15 percent of the party would vote. In recent days, four people have been arrested on suspicion of spying for China, including an employee of top candidate Maximilian Krah. He allegedly passed information from the EU Parliament to China and is now in custody (see video above).
There are also alleged ties to pro-Russian networks; Krah is accused of receiving money from Russia. The top candidate will not participate in his party’s opening elections on Saturday as planned. There shouldn’t be any videos with him either.
