Climate change will fundamentally change many things. You could even say: we are facing a 180 degree chemical turnaround. But how should all this be done? Christian Mähr explains.
In the past, hydrocarbons were extracted from the ground, where fortunately they were produced by bacteria for millions of years. And the only relevant question was: what beautiful thing can we make of it? The energy required for this is provided by the same materials because they burn excellently, which is practical.
Today the whole thing has turned around. The question now is: how do we remove the waste product carbon dioxide from nature? And burning anything that contains carbon is considered an absolute no-go anyway. Wrong world. But what should the carbon be replaced with?
The commonly promoted universal answer is: hydrogen. After all, this can be produced from water in any desired quantity with unlimited solar and wind energy. Problem solved, shut up, monkey dead. Unfortunately, the details are lost to us.
