Damage to power plants – Russia launched air strikes on Ukraine

Date:

Russia has hit Ukraine with new massive missile attacks. The air force in Kiev reported on Saturday morning that 21 of a total of 34 rockets and cruise missiles of various types had been shot down. The attacks came from the air, the Black Sea and the ground, the report said.

The energy company DTEK said a total of four thermal power stations were seriously damaged. People were also injured. “You get the help you need,” the company said.

Air strikes mainly targeted energy supplies
Workers are currently trying to repair the damage. Earlier there had been an air raid siren throughout the country. According to the Ministry of Energy in Kiev, the air strikes mainly targeted energy supplies.

Attacks were reported in the Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv (formerly Lemberg) and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. According to authorities, two power plants were hit in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Hospital grounds hit
Authorities also again reported several explosions in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, which has come under repeated shelling and is not far from the Russian border. It was said that the grounds of a hospital were also hit by Russian shelling.

The pressure wave caused damage to the buildings and broke some windows. A patient was injured in her bed. Authorities also released images of the damage.

Attacks also on Russia
Russia, which has been causing death and destruction in the neighboring country for more than two years with its war of aggression against Ukraine, is also the target of attacks again. Russian air defense said 66 drones had been intercepted and destroyed by the Ukrainian side in the Krasnodar region.

Local authorities said a fire also damaged facilities at an oil processing company in the region. No one was injured. The shooting down of two drones was again reported in Crimea’s Black Sea peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. The information could not initially be verified.
