Five people were killed in a tornado in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Saturday. 33 people were injured.
According to official information, the storm damaged 141 factory buildings, but no residential buildings collapsed. As Xinhua reported, the rescue work is said to have been largely completed.
100,000 residents evacuated
Just a week ago, Guangzhou and surrounding Guangdong province were hit by heavy rain, killing at least four people and forcing the evacuation of more than 100,000 residents.
More than 18 million people live in Guangzhou. The provincial capital is one of the most important economic centers of the People’s Republic.
