The radical Islamic group Hamas released another hostage video on Saturday. The images show two men, who family members say are Omri Miran and Keith Siegel. The men appear to be speaking under duress, and their accomplices address the audience with the following words: “Do what you have to do before it’s too late!”
On Wednesday, the radical Islamic Palestinian organization had already published a video of the American-Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin (see above).
In captivity for 202 days
“I have been in Hamas captivity for 202 days,” Miran, 47, said in the video. The situation is difficult, “there are many bombs”. It is time to reach an agreement on the release of the Hamas hostages. “Keep protesting so that an agreement can be reached now.”
“I want to tell my family that I love you very much”
Keith Siegel, who also has US citizenship, breaks down in tears in the video. “We are in danger here, there are bombs, it is stressful and scary,” the 64-year-old said. “I want to tell my family that I love you very much.”
He also appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to quickly reach an agreement to release the hostages.
Hamas’s armed wing said in the video in Hebrew that Israel’s military pressure had not yet led to the release of the hostages. “Do what you have to do before it’s too late,” it said.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Saturday that in the event of a hostage agreement, the offensive on Rafah would be postponed. “Releasing the hostages is our top priority,” Katz told Channel 12.
Asked whether this would include a postponement of the announced military operation in southern Gaza City, Katz replied: “Yes.” He added: “If there is an agreement, we will suspend the operation.”
