A dangerous knife attack took place at Vienna’s Stephansplatz metro station on Sunday evening. Several passers-by were injured in the incident after the victim (22) tried to escape the attacker. A baby is also among the injured. The suspect has been on the run since then.
Around 8 p.m., the 22-year-old wanted to prevent the unknown man from hitting a woman (63). According to police, the unknown man then attacked the 22-year-old with the Stanley knife and injured him. As the 22-year-old fled from the attacker, he unfortunately collided with a man (35) with a stroller.
Unknown person still on the run
Both men fell. The stroller, which was carrying a baby, also fell over. Shortly afterwards the suspect also fled. The father was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Despite an intensive search, emergency services have not yet succeeded in apprehending the unknown man.
Motive still unclear
It is still unclear why the suspect attacked the woman in the middle of the metro station. The investigation continues at full speed.
