Police were able to arrest a suspected thief duo in the Tyrolean lowlands on Monday: the two Poles apparently left a supermarket with two full shopping carts – without having paid for the goods. Two employees wanted to prevent the suspects from escaping into the parking lot. But the duo managed to escape. A search was successful.
How brutal can you be? The two suspects, aged 20 and 48, are said to have taken two shopping carts full of goods in a supermarket in Kramsach (Kufstein district). Instead of paying at the cash register, the duo simply walked out of the store.
Duo facing in parking lot
“Two employees of the branch were able to observe this and confronted the men in the parking lot when they were already loading their vehicle. The men stated that they had paid for the goods, but had not received an invoice for them,” the police reported.
The employees did not believe a word the two Poles said. When the men got into the vehicle and wanted to drive away, the two employees with the shopping carts, some of which were still loaded, stood in their way.
But the suspects refused to be stopped. “When the driver started the engine and began to reverse, they quickly pulled the shopping carts out of the way and got themselves to safety,” investigators continued.
Search started, suspects caught
The duo then fled. But this was only short-lived. Based on the license plate, the police were able to track down the suspected perpetrators during a search of a residential building in Radfeld. “During an initial interrogation, the 20-year-old confessed, but the 48-year-old denied the accusation,” police said.
After the investigation is completed, the duo is said to be free.
