50 men from the Friesach, St. Salvator and Zeltschach fire brigades fought a meadow fire at the “Kuhriegel” in Friesach on Wednesday afternoon. This was caused by four young people who are now being sought.
Presumably, two boys and two girls while using a mini Bunsen burner set fire to a meadow at the “Kuhriegel” viewpoint, northeast of the quarry trail (municipality of Friesach) around 4:30 p.m. “Due to the strong winds, it spread to an area of approximately 200 m² to 300 m²,” the police said.
Two witnesses observed young people
It was only thanks to the quick intervention of the fire brigade that the fire could be quickly brought under control. Fortunately, no one was injured and no property damage occurred. “During the investigation at the scene of the fire, the officers were able to find a mini Bunsen burner and identify two witnesses who saw the four unknown young people at the scene of the fire,” says an officer.
A local search came back negative, but the investigation continues. It is important to clarify whether it was an accident or whether it was intentional.
