A house burned down in the municipality of Blons in Vorarlberg on Thursday evening. One person was apparently armed with a knife – so the Cobra had to approach.
Shortly after midnight a fire broke out in the house in Blons – it is still unclear why. The flames quickly spread to the adjacent shed.
When emergency services arrived on the scene, both the house and the barn were already completely ablaze. According to police reports, two residents fled the home. However, a visitor who spent the night with one of the two residents barricaded himself on the first floor and refused to leave the building.
The man had to be forcibly removed from the home by the police. The police initially did not want to confirm that the visitor had a knife with him and that is why the Cobra was alerted. What seems certain, however, is that the visitor was in a psychological “state of emergency.” Drugs may have been involved.
Ultimately, the man, who was injured, was flown to hospital by helicopter. The house and barn could no longer be saved; they burned down completely. The investigation is still ongoing; a firefighter had to be taken to hospital with suspected smoke poisoning.
