Delicate Use – Talker: Passengers Stuck in Rides

Date:

Not only football fans had to be patient on Monday evening due to a power failure shortly before the Austria-Denmark international match in Vienna. The Wurstel-Prater was also hit – many rides were also canceled, the passengers were sometimes stuck in the air, photos on Twitter showed. According to Wiener Netze, a total of 1,500 households were affected.

Roller coasters are great fun because of the thrill – but being stuck on a ride after a power outage is probably too intense an experience, even for adrenaline junkies. Images on social platforms show how people were rescued from this uncomfortable situation on Monday evening.

The power outage happened just after 8 p.m. It takes an average of 90 minutes for an interrupted power supply to be restored, says a spokeswoman for Wiener Netze. Power is now flowing again in both the Wurstelprater and the Ernst Happel Stadium. However, because the floodlights in the stadium take a while to come back on, the match in the Nations League was further delayed.
