There was great excitement in a hotel in the Tyrolean Oberland on Tuesday evening: 176 guests had to be evacuated due to a fire alarm. It turned out that the battery of a mobile phone had exploded in a staff room. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The site of the operation was a hotel in Fendels in the Tyrolean district of Landeck. At around 3:30 am, a 42-year-old employee was playing with his mobile phone in his staff room when, for an unknown reason, the battery suddenly exploded and started smoking.
This set off the smoke alarm and alerted the local fire brigade. “Afterwards, 176 guests were removed from the hotel. Due to the heavy smoke, the fourth floor and the staff room were ventilated,” police said.
The explosion went off slightly
Fortunately, no one was injured. And there was no damage to the building or furnishings. The Fendels fire brigade with two vehicles and 14 men, the Landeck rescue service and a police patrol were present.
