There is still no trace of the 77-year-old man who went for a walk in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley on Wednesday and never returned to his accommodation. The police continued the search on Friday – also because tips have now been received from hikers.
The 77-year-old left his home in Neugasteig (municipality of Neustift) on May 1 around 12:30 p.m. According to police, he wanted to go for a walk, but did not share his destination. The born Austrian, who lives in Belgium and is currently on holiday in the Stubai Valley, has never returned since. The alarm was raised in the evening.
Major search so far without success
A major search was launched. Police, fire brigades, mountain rescue services, water rescue services and sniffer dogs searched for the missing person. Drones and the police helicopter were also deployed. Paths, trails, forest slopes, local areas and the banks of the Ruetz River were searched.
The search was finally called off on Thursday without results.
Clues: Have hikers seen the missing man?
The police continued the action on Friday. After a photo of the missing person was published, tips came in from hikers. They said they may have seen a 77-year-old climbing to the Mischbachalm.
The area is now being searched again with drones and police helicopters.
