Resuscitation failed – Tyrolean (79) died after crash with tractor

Date:

Horrific accident Saturday morning in Gries am Brenner: a local man crashed his tractor and became trapped under the vehicle. All attempts to revive the man failed. It is the second similar incident in Tyrol within a week.

The senior probably drove his tractor along a dirt road towards his property in the Innsbruck-Land district of the Vinaders region in the morning hours. “Since there was a pile of branches at the edge of the dirt road, he probably wanted to avoid this area,” police said.

He probably went over the side of the road with the right wheels of the vehicle and fell over steep terrain. After about 30 meters he was thrown from the motor vehicle.

Passersby probably heard the incident and called the emergency services. “When we arrived, first aiders were already on scene and were trying to resuscitate the person. The rescue team then took over the resuscitation,” said Alois Wieser, commander of the Gries am Brenner fire brigade, describing the dramatic scenes.

Died at the scene of the accident
Unfortunately, all help for the victim came too late and he died at the scene of the accident. “The individual was trapped under the vehicle on steep terrain and was ultimately rescued,” Wieser continued. Ultimately, the fire brigade was able to tow the vehicle away.

A similar accident a week ago
A similar incident took place a week ago in Fügenberg (Schwaz district). At that moment, a 61-year-old farmer fell down a steep meadow with his tractor and was thrown from the vehicle cab. Resuscitation measures were unsuccessful and he died at the scene of the accident.
