Late Monday evening, a train collided with the vehicle of a 53-year-old at an unrestricted level crossing near Gols (Burgenland). On arrival, paramedics were only able to determine the woman’s death.
The driver from the Neusiedl district was on the L205 towards Podersdorf am See when a train set sideways into the car at a level crossing. As a result, the vehicle was thrown against a catenary.

The woman may not have had a chance to survive, she died on the spot. The driver of the motor car got off with a heavy shock, he and the six passengers were uninjured in the accident.
Train and rail system were damaged in the collision, a track replacement service was set up. The volunteer fire brigade in Gols was deployed with 30 members.
