Two taxi drivers were victims of attacks last weekend. The three perpetrators in the two cases were barely twenty years old.
A 21-year-old from Salzburg is suspected of injuring a 50-year-old taxi driver after an argument shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday. The suspect was a passenger in the victim’s taxi and another passenger from Salzburg to Hallwang. During the ride, the suspect insulted the driver. When he got out, he attacked the taxi driver. When he saw the police coming, he fled.
A search was initially unsuccessful, but his mobile phone and the taxi bill, which he had previously paid with a debit card, were found nearby. This allowed his data to be determined. The injured taxi driver was taken to University Hospital and the investigation is ongoing.
Taxi drivers refused drunk people
In a separate case, two Salzburg residents, aged 18 and 22, are accused of injuring a 43-year-old taxi driver in Taxham shortly before 11pm on Saturday evening. The two men, who were clearly very drunk, tried to get a taxi. After initially agreeing, the taxi driver quickly refused transportation.
This angered the 22-year-old, who kicked the car and jumped on it. The taxi driver got out and tried to detain the young man until the police arrived. However, the 18-year-old intervened and both attacked the taxi driver with fists and feet, causing him to let the 22-year-old go.
The injured taxi driver was taken to hospital. The two Salzburg residents are accused of bodily harm and property damage.
