Israel asks to evacuate Rafah due to a possible army operation in the area

The 100,000 residents of Rafah have received messages and leaflets calling on them to evacuate and move to the Al Mawasi humanitarian zone.

Some 100,000 inhabitants from the eastern neighborhoods of the southern Gaza city of Rafah, close to the Philadelphia corridor bordering Egypt, received messages and pamphlets this morning urging them to evacuate and go to the Al Mawasi ‘humanitarian zone’, as described by the Israeli army.

According to this source, the evacuation order is It’s “temporary” and has been forwarded pamphlets, text messages, phone calls and broadcasts in the Arab media.

“(The Israeli Army) is about to operate vigorously against terrorist organizations in the area where you currently reside, as they have done until now. Anyone who remains in the area is endangering themselves and their families. For your safety, evacuate immediately to the Extended Humanitarian Zone in Al Mawasi,” said one of the released pamphlets.

The military said in an online press conference with the media this morning that the evacuation is in response to more to dismantle Hamas, bring back the hostages” and remove the civilian population from danger, but did not specify how much time residents have to comply with this forced evacuation.

The statement also indicates that the Al Mawasi area, close to Khan Younis, has been expanded and is receiving more humanitarian assistance, such as “field hospitals, tents, an increased amount of food, water, medicine and additional supplies.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated this yesterday Israel will not end the war in Gazaeven though there was a temporary ceasefire with Hamas, and for months he has hinted at the “need” to destroy the Islamic group’s battalions that remain operational in Rafah.
