German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock tested positive for the coronavirus during a visit to Pakistan. She is breaking off her multi-day trip abroad, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Baerbock did a quick test after lunch after she lost her sense of taste, the Foreign Ministry in Berlin said. All other dates of the trip have been cancelled.
Negative in the morning, positive in the afternoon
Baerbock traveled to Pakistan on Monday and met her Pakistani colleague Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the capital Islamabad on Tuesday morning. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the minister had consistently tested himself. A quick test that morning was negative.
Baerbock originally wanted to continue to Greece on Wednesday, the third and final stop on her journey, which would last until Friday, would be Turkey.
