Police operation in Vienna – chase on railway lines: two officers injured

A threatened suicide bombing at the Siemensstrasse train station in Floridsdorf has fully escalated. Passers-by saw an initially unknown person lying on the track and alerted the police. After the officers arrived on the scene and called on the man to reason, the commotion escalated. “The suspect jumped into the track bed and back onto the platform several times; he could no longer be stopped,” explains police spokesman Markus Dittrich.

After a few minutes, the angry man was able to be contained and pulled out of the danger zone. The violent perpetrator eventually snapped and attacked the helpers. During the restraint measures he kicked, seriously injuring two police officers in the legs.

The man was arrested and then taken to hospital; the investigation is still ongoing.

Mysterious body discovery near the Vienna River
The case of a male body found on the Vienna River cycle path is now closed. Directly below the Preindlsteg at Ober St. Veit, passers-by made a grisly discovery on Saturday: the naked and bleeding body of a deceased person.

Crime scene secured
Police have secured the crime scene and started forensic investigations. A short time later, work was stopped because, according to current knowledge, the death was the result of suicidal behavior.
