The children and adolescents of Austria have overtaking in the field of mental and physical health. There is also a lot to do with the education system in the field of opportunities. This comes from the analysis by UNICEF Innocenti – Global Office of Research and Foresight.
The authors of the study investigated the wells of children in 39 countries -Asustia ends up in 12th place. The Alpine Republic cuts relatively well with the skills of the children (seventh place). The UNICEF organization locates in the field of mental (16th place) and physical health (20th place).
The analysis “Report Card 19: DAILS DESIDENTIALS OF CHILDREN IN A NIGHER WORLE” shows how Pandemic and Global Lockdowns had an impact.
The satisfaction of life decreased
In Austria, the satisfaction of young people’s life has fallen considerably since 2018: only 71 percent are still satisfied (2018: 77 percent). More than a fifth of the 15-year-old reported frequent bullying at school. Only 71 percent of young people say that their parents regularly talk to them – “a relatively low value in an international comparison,” says UNICEF Austria.
Overweight rate high
The decrease in suicide figure of young people up to 5.03 per 100,000 (from 6.12) is positive, “but other countries could also achieve considerably better success”. In physical health, the high percentage of overweight of more than a quarter of the children remains an unsolved problem.
Must overtake the education system
A “growth level of opportunities in the education system” was particularly critical: the distance between social -economically disadvantaged and privileged children in mathematics has increased since 2018. Four out of five young people, after all, say that they make friendships somewhat – a positive social factor.
International falls in school skills
However, many countries registered significant falls in school skills, in particular reading and mathematics. The report estimates that children in the countries lie behind the learning status on average seven months to a year. Pat on girls and boys are mainly affected.
Half not readable
In the 43 countries investigated, about half of the 15-year-olds were classified as functionally unable and weakened, they could not understand a simple text. “The highest relationships were found in Bulgaria, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus and Mexico, where more than two-thirds of the 15-year-olds fell into this category.”
The share of overweight children increased
In 14 of the 32 countries with available data, the satisfaction of life decreased considerably. Japan was the only country with a considerable improvement. In physical health, the report shows that the proportion of overweight children has increased considerably in 14 of the 43 countries with data available for this.
