A fatal traffic accident took place in Saaz near Paldau (Southeast Styria district) on Thursday evening. A 62-year-old man died at the scene of the accident.
A 58-year-old truck driver drove from Saaz towards Gniebing after a rest break. As the southeast Styrian drove from a parking lot along an access road towards the L201, the man noticed resistance in a slight right bend. The truck driver immediately stopped and saw a person in the rearview mirror near the rear axles of the vehicle. The woman was probably hit by the truck and overturned. Even though first aid measures were immediately taken and the emergency services were alerted, the woman from southeastern Styria could no longer be helped. The woman died at the scene of the accident.
Cause of accident unclear
The Feldbach Police Station is now investigating the cause of the accident. This also includes assessing the truck driver’s driver card.
